R.I.P.
Although
the stock A-1 is a really quite an underperformer, the Sassy
parts took care of most of it's weaknesses and made it into
a stable truck with good handling. However, the final result
was heavy and somewhat over-engineered as there were really
quite a few areas to rectify - while I enjoyed the handling
and jumping of the A-1, it was not easy to work on and did
suffer some durability issues. In addition, the gearboxes
- although they worked fine - did not endear themselves to
me with their raw and noisy feel... not to mentioned there
was no way to lower the gearing on these overgeared trannies.
In 2002, the A-1 was traded away for a tube-framed
Juggernaut2.
Here
on SYSTEM BLOODCLOD, she shall be remembered fondly.

Project
Brief
This truck was
named GLADIATOR because it not only had a lot of muscle, it was
also very agile. The argument between independent suspension and
solid axle suspension has raged on forever, but this truck convinced
me that independent suspension is superior in handling and especially
in jumps. The Sassy line-up of parts makes this truck more durable
and stable.
